Keep in mind that each of us in Ontario is paying the heating, hydro and water and sewage bills of the occupiers of DCE. This is stupid. The whole place must have been bulldozed long time ago, just as the occupiers moved in.

Providing free lunches to the thugs only generates more thugs, and I am not referring to the natives - the fact that Ontario government bowed to the violent occupiers of the land means that any violent occupier will be treated exactly the same. Or different? Based on what - race? Uh-oh...

It is obvious why there is racial discrimination when it comes to this problem; and its simply because the non-native town members have jobs, have lives, and don't blame everybody else for their problems. For that reason - but not the only reason - the non-native town members don't rally up and use violence - or actions that are tantamount to violence - thus allowing the police to act as they should and arrest the offender. One offender is easily dealt with in a small town. 500 offenders is not. The answer is for the town to adapt. Deal with 500 offenders the way Toronto would deal with 500 offenders. Give them a chance to submit to the law, and if they don't comply, arrest them like any large city would.
criminals in mass are nonetheless criminals.
Now the obvious question is: but the town is not equipped for that?
the bovious answer is: use resources from the province, i'm sure there is enough to go around. If toronto can call in the army to clean up snow, certainly if a small town is dealing with a rampant criminal problem they can come and fix that too.

Jafo you are no doubt the best example I could hope to find of just how vicious those who support the lawlessness in Caledonia are. As you can see ladies and gentlemen, this person thinks it appropriate to make fun of a serious head injury and wish more of them on me for failing to see things as they do.

That I published this one comment of yours Jafo should be taken as the exception rather than the rule. The simple reasons I don't often allow your comments is they generally don't add anything to the discussion, and you spent most of June 2007 attempting to flood this site with "so many posts that you'll have to disable posting"

Now you can finally get some rest as I posted one of your comments and everyone gets to see what a contemptible human being you are.

You guys just don't get it. In your case, I suspect that knock to your noggin you suffered earlier this year wasn't the first time that has happened. Keep hitting it on the road. There may be hope for you yet. Gary and Mark are beyond help. You can't get much lower than those two. You're getting there yourself, boyo.

Dear Jeff:

As one of the the objects of Bryant's outlandish insults I have to thank you for your very eloquent take on his attempts to belittle my right to submit a complaint to the OHRC and the rights of non-natives generally.

I have today written to the OHRC to advise them of my serious concerns about the Minister's remarks. I told them, however, that before I filed a formal complaint, that I wanted to see if the Bryant would apologize and, therefore, make a complaint unnecessary.

I have also sent a letter - cc'd to the Premier, the Minister and my local MPP, Deb Matthews asking for her help in obtaining the apology. I also tried to open the door with her regarding discussions about how to protect the rights of non-natives during land claim disputes. I sent her (and all cc'd) a copy of Toby Barrett's 'Haldimand Proclamation.'

I'm hoping to get the docs up soon. In the meantime, thanks again for a most excellent commentary!

Regards,

Mark

And in there lies the problem. A government hell bent on recognizing only one side of the problem. I cannot imagine what the residents are going thru. It is not there fault that they own a home on what is now the ever expanding "treaty land." That fault lies clearly with the governments who refuse to do anything to settle these matters.

I think the residents of Calendonia have shown such restraint in there behaviour they are to be commended. NOT condemned. The charter of human rights and freedoms in Canada is there to say ALL OUR EQUAL. Which means I have the same rights as you, no more, no less. Until the police, and Bryant recognize that one concept nothing will get settled. The way the residents of Calendonia are suffering makes me ashamed. Ashamed that we have a government who is more interested in appearances than people. I wish all of you luck with the human rights commission, if they rule on the letter of the law, you will win. If they commission rules on politics than we have NO LAW, and no charter of rights.
