The Town of Deseronto went public with its frustration over the Culbertson Tract land claim Friday, issuing a sharply-worded press release.

The municipality is questioning Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Chief R. Donald Maracle’s leadership in the wake of two recent protests staged on contested town land.

Development moratorium proposed to end native land protests

A quick thought for Brantford before we get to the story. Why not tell your police force to do their job and throw these criminals in jail where they belong? That would stop the protests and the likes of Coolican, and Hancockcould become heroes instead of cowards

A proposal being floated by provincial negotiator Murray Coolican to end protests against local development is causing a stir.

Coolican visited the Six Nations Confederacy council at the reserve’s Onondaga Longhouse last week and, according to the Tekawennake, a native weekly paper, discussed an idea to halt development along parts of the Grand River in return for an end to native protests.
