Fantino – “$500 Thousand” to suppress your rights

November 7, 2007

In a story that will soon be run by the Hamilton Spectator, Julian Fantino has decided to take a day off from his duties as the most over paid traffic cop in the Country to try once again to divide the residents of Caledonia.

His nature as a bully simply does not allow him to understand that he can not win a battle against truth and justice, so he’s about to announce that under his orders, the OPP have wasted $500 Thousand of your tax dollars to prevent a Canadian flag from being hung on a hydro poll in Caledonia.

He will no doubt say that Gary McHale is somehow responsible for that absurd cost, but don’t allow your intelligence to be insulted by such a claim. Take the time to review the facts so you can make the educated judgment of this announcement that Fantino desperately wants to avoid.

The OPP have chosen to disobey the Supreme Court at great cost to you:

In 1993 in the case of Ramsden vs the city of Peterborough, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that any citizen has the right to hang objects from hydro polls and that stopping them was a direct violation of the freedom of expression that we are all guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

OPP inspector Dave McLean has admitted that the OPP don’t care if we hang flags on hydro polls. They decided to stop us because they received orders from the Native criminals occupying DCE that if we were allowed to exercise our rights, there would be bloodshed. Instead of dealing with the criminals who use violence to maintain control of the Ontario Provincial Police, they chose to disgrace the force by ignoring the rule of law, and the basic rights of Canadian citizens by spending half a Million dollars to prevent non Natives from hanging a flag on a poll.

Gary McHale did not start the flag raising events:

It was neither Gary McHale nor anyone of us who works with him that started the flag raising events at which the OPP have wasted your tax dollars. On December 2, 2006 Caledonia residents Rick and Valerie Vanderwick, Dana Chatwell, and Brian Hagan organized residents to hang Canadian flags and yellow ribbons to support Canadian troops throughout Caledonia.

At the orders of Native Criminals, the OPP formed police lines to prevent residents from hanging Canadian flags and yellow ribbons on hydro polls on the stretch of Argyle Street that is visible from DCE. Natives proclaimed that property to no longer be Canadian, and the OPP mobilized to ensure that the orders of violent thugs were carried out.

Caledonia resident Bo Chausse was illegally arrested that day to prevent him from hanging a flag and held without charge. The OPP then issued a press release condemning the citizens of Caledonia as “juvenile” and “self serving”.

Extreme measures have been taken to ensure your rights are suppressed:

On January 20, 2007 the OPP gathered in Caledonia with hundreds of officers, the London Riot Squad, and a helicopter overhead to ensure that nobody could hang a flag from a hydro poll on Argyle Street. Julian Fantino himself was present that day but when confronted by Gary McHale at the Unity Road station refused to comment and hid behind a door peeking out the window at us. He refused to speak to a small group consisting of us and town residents, but is confirmed to have met with the thugs at DCE earlier that day.

The wreckless spending of your money continues:

Fantino continues to squander your hard earned tax dollars by paying people to analyze the details so that he can announce to the media that he has spent half a Million dollars to stop a few people from hanging a flag on a poll. Will he be announcing the cost of the illegal occupation of DCE to the public as well? Don’t count on it.

Estimates have thus far reached well over $200 Million of your money spent because the OPP refused to remove 2 women who illegally halted construction of a subdivision in Caledonia on February 28, 2006.

How desperate must the OPP and McGuinty government now be to have their people sit down and come to this figure which they will attempt to use to anger tax payers, and divide the people as much as possible to keep you distracted from the real issues?

What ridiculous claim will he make next? How long before he blames the lack of a settlement of the invalid claim to DCE on Gary McHale?

As I said befire only a coward and a failure blames other people for his failures.

Fantino failed to uphold the rule of law and the orders of the court . he consults criminal vandals to take his policing policy…he frigged up…his policy is costing money and he wants to scape goat a law abiding citizen who exercises his charter rights.

Words fail me in describing what a loser Fantino is…failure as a cop, an administrator and a citizen…he soils the uniform he wears.

  2. Mary-Lou LaPratte says:

    Dear Jeff,
How fortunate for Fantino that he uses McHale for a scapegoat for all the woes of Caledonia instead of being accountable for his own mistakes as the leader of the OPP.
McHale’s visits to Caledonia have never caused any one to be violent or injured. McHale did not get involved for six months after the DCE was occupied. and only did his first March for Freedom in the ninth month of the occupation. Would Julian Fantino like to explain the damages to infrastructure, assaults on innocent residents and visitors as well as attempted murder of a police officer, business losses and tumbling real estate values. Perhaps the launching of a class-action lawsuit by the citizens of Caledonia against the police and the government was unwarranted as well, even though it was done before McHale got involved. Was the Citizens of Caledonia website and the Citizens Alliance also formed for no reason??? I suppose Dave and Dana’s lawsuit has no merit either. Fantino rants about McHale’s and others approach over their support of the Rule of Law but refuses to address the crime and harassment against innocent people directly due to the policies of the OPP which have allowed them to occur undeterred since Feb 2006. If McHale never went to Caledonia again, nothing would change, except Fantino would have to find someone else to blame instead of his own discriminatory policies. Greater men than Fantino have fallen in the wake of public opinion on their tactics. I will celebrate the day Fantino Falls.

You are right and I was wrong.
I quit. I expect to get a severence package of $500,000

  4. Donna Reid says:

How may cars do the OPP have? How much to paint each white car black and white?
Are we really concerned about costs? Mr. Fantino is looking for media attention, wants to huff and puff like the big bad wolf. Costs are not the reason for ————-.

  5. BeothucVSA says:

I wonder how much of this will make the paper. I saw Fantino’s ridiculous rant today in the Spec and wanted to puke! How many people are going to read that and believe the clown Fantino? We don’t have the balls to stand up against him here in Caledonia! Bring on McHale!!!

    Gary, you are my rock!

  6. Annie says:

Give us some credit. Anyone in Ontario is NOT going to believe a word out of Julian Fantino’s mouth. The man who let armed mohawk warriors close down the 401. He has no credibility. Let’s face it he would not know what the law was even if a law book hit him in the head. He has NO CREDIBILITY to any Ontario residents. Unfortunately WE, the CITIZENS of Ontario cannot fire the idiot.

  7. Good one Jeff! I just updated “History comes to Hamilton: “No one was left to speak for me.” with links to this post and to your “Fantino McHale Gualtiri and High Treason?” post.

Fantino should be ashamed of himself, blaming law abiding citizens exercising their legal rights to protest against the incredible failures of his police force. I guess it’s our fault that the children on Sixth Line are afraid in their homes???

Oh well, Julie’s rants just make our human rights complaints more credible – after all, how many natives has he singled out for their CRIMINAL behaviour? ZERO.

P.S. Julie, you might want to talk to someone who can help you with your Gary obsession. It’s affecting your judgement – big time! While you’re at it, you might want to have a read of a document called the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, you know, the one that spells out all the rights you and your force are supposed to be defending???

  8. William H Jensen says:

Fantino has always been a buffoon and a loser,it would take a similer type of person to hire him.
