A Canadian judge has ruled that a couple who taught their 7 year old daughter how to “kill black people” and sent her to school emblazoned with Nazi propaganda are unfit parents, and given custody of their 2 children to the foster care system.

This is promising indeed for a Country that tends to turn a blind eye to supremacy, but will the courts take an even handed approach to all Supremacist parents?

The Winnipeg couple sent their 7 year old daughter to school one day with Nazi propaganda scrawled on her body. The school sent her home with instructions to remove it, and she came back the next day with more of the same, as well as swastikas. In an interview with a social worker, the girl said “What people don’t understand is that black people should die,” (1)

The girl and her 4 year old half brother were promptly removed from the home, and their step father has lost his bid at custody. Justice Marianne Rivoalen found plenty of other reasons to keep the children away from their bigoted parents, but their supremacist ideology is what brought them to the attention of the courts. (2)

If we can recognize as a Country that this is wrong, then we should be ready to recognize that teaching a child any form of supremacy is equally wrong. The ultimate job of a parent is to raise a person who will become a productive member of society, and efforts to teach them that they’re better than everyone else because of the color of their skin is about as far from doing a good job as one can get.

It’s high time that we stop thinking everything will somehow work itself out if we just turn a blind eye and hope for the best. That kind of irresponsible apathy has put us on a path of race based justice, race based policing, race based funding, and deep seated race based parenting that’s teaching the next generation how to hate based purely on skin color which is something that we find so loathsome as a society, we simply turn our backs on it and hope it will go away.

Turning away from something so ugly can never fix it, and the sooner we all realize that apathy never breeds anything but trouble, the sooner we can start to fix the broken fabric of our society.

For a Country that prides itself on multiculturalism, we’re awfully quick to look away from any reality that suggests otherwise.
