While reading an excellent story by Mark Vandermaas about why Conservatives can’t trust the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, I remembered a ‘feature’ video I had seen from CBC some time ago praising the wonderful residential school system and showing happy Native children learning about such things as Valentines Day, and “the mastery of words”.

Mr. Vandermaas’s story documents the failure of the CBC to present any unbiased reports on the victims of Caledonia and their willingness to instead provide air time to the criminals. At issue specifically is their unwillingness to run a story that they have been working on about the growing dissention in the ranks of the Conservatives as a result of Fantino joining the party.

Before we have a look at the 1955 residential school video, let’s look at a clip of one of the interviews that CBC conducted with Mr. McHale on the Fantino topic. While this was being filmed in front of Fantino headquarters in Vaughan, Julian was seen sneaking out the back door and driving away.

Presented by CanaceHD, It’s best viewed at 720p which may take some time to buffer depending on your connection. Some editing was necessary due to excessive wind noise.

While Julian Fantino managed a very narrow victory in the Vaughan by-election on Monday, it’s more than a bit note worthy that the supposed “star candidate” for the CPC won his home town riding by less than 1000 votes with the full weight of top party officials including the Prime Minister behind him.

Looking back at what was an interesting campaign, Fantino and the Conservative Party of Canada pulled out every trick they had to squeak out a win that was too close to call until after midnight.

When the rumours began flying that Fantino would be embraced by Stephen Harper, we did everything we could to be absolutely sure that the CPC were aware of Julian’s salty past before they made it official. The announcement was timed to precede the release of Christie Blatchford’s book which makes clear that Fantino not only failed as OPP commissioner, but went out of his way to abuse his power.

A fully informed Harper nonetheless fast tracked Fantino into the party in a very undemocratic fashion shoving him down the throats of loyal Conservative voters and members of the party alike. This created an instant backlash within the party as high profile long time members began contacting members of CANACE to voice their disgust and help us craft an anti Fantino campaign.

Conservatives Against Fantino had the pleasure of attending the only public all candidates debate in Vaughan last night to hear what Julian Fantino & his opponents had to say to the voters with only 5 days left until the by election in which Fantino hopes to unseat the Liberals.

Unfortunately for the voters and for all who believe in Democracy, Mr. Fantino blew off the event. Organizers made every effort to accommodate Julian including rescheduling this event to suit his schedule, but he was unwilling to engage his opponents in a public debate.

UPDATE: With over 2000 unique views and climbing, my thanks to all who have taken the time to read this story. Perhaps if we get the word out to enough people, greedy Mr. Fantino & the OPPA will finally leave these families in peace.

Months after his reign as OPP commissioner ended, Julian Fantino is still trying to bully innocent victims into silence. The man Stephen Harper is said to have hand picked to run as the Federal Conservative candidate for Vaughan is trying to force the families of 2 disabled men who were shot and killed by police to pay him $17500.

The people Fantino wants cash from include 83 year old Evelyn Minty whose disabled son Douglas was shot dead outside her Elmvale home on June 22, 2009 and Ruth Schaeffer whose son Levi suffered from Schizophrenia and was shot through the heart at his private camp site in Northern Ontario by OPP officers on June 24, 2009.

The lawyer for the Minty and Schaeffer families, Julian Falconer calls the move to seek costs police intimidation which it certainly appears to be, and stated to the court “because the families have asked for police accountability, they will now be punished.”

As a faithful Conservative, it is sometimes necessary to swallow my personal views about an issue so long as the party as a whole is doing the best job they can to represent us. That is not the case with the latest decision by Stephen Harper.

Touting the tripe that he’s “good for the party” and under the apparent delusion that he’s a “law & order guy”, the Federal Conservatives are running former OPP commissioner Julian Fantino in the riding of Vaughan. This for me as a staunch Conservative constituent and as someone who has seen first hand the havoc that Julian Fantino wreaked on the town of Caledonia is too much to take quietly.

Like many other lucky Conservatives, I awoke this morning to the happy news that John Tory lost yesterday’s byelection to Liberal Rick Johnson and tendered his long overdue resignation this afternoon. As some may recall, Tory not only blew the Provincial Election for the PC party in 2007, he lost his own riding and has been a laughing stock ever since.

For many their last memory of John Tory may be that he lost an established Conservative seat to the Liberals because of his selfish refusal to step down, or the fact that even when an MPP tried to hand him her seat the voters refused to choke on a term of Tory leadership, but I’d like to share a story about Mr. Tory and what could have been. This is one of many (MANY) stories that we have never shared with the public.

As some may recall, one of the first stories posted at CaledoniaWakeupCall.com was about the attempted murder of an OPP officer by Native criminals. In broad daylight Natives walked up to an OPP van and assaulted the officers inside which included US Border Guard and ATF agents. They then stole the van, used it to try to run over an OPP officer, smeared it with human feces on the Douglas Creek Estates, and returned the van minus a number of classified intelligence reports that had been inside.

The OPP stood by and watched as one of their own was nearly killed and when one of the Natives approached officers demanding to be arrested they refused. He then turned to stunned Caledonia residents and proclaimed that he could “get you any time I want to” before retreating into the home free zone known as the DCE. This incident was largely responsible for Gary McHale becoming involved in Caledonia.

After being abandoned by their police force and government in 2006, Caledonia residents awoke today to learn that their neighbours in Simcoe voted to damn them to 4 more years of suffering with an MP who is perhaps the most useless and apathetic in the history of our Country.

Thousands of people dared to believe that their voice could make a difference by voting for Gary McHale, but Simcoe which has not yet suffered at the hands of Native terrorists and a crippled OPP voted to hand the status quo another term and a gold plated pension.

Lest there be any doubt that Diane Finley is a desperate woman whose campaign has gone up in flames, we have confirmation today that she is skipping yet another debate (this time shunning the Rotory club in Simcoe) to spend the day travelling around Caledonia with the minister of finance Jim Flaherty.

Hopefully someone will think to ask him about the $0 he has given to the businesses and residents of Caledonia and the millions given to the OPP to nap in their cars for the past 2 ½ years.

Just in case sauntering around with Flaherty isn’t enough to blind voters to the fact that she abandoned them as soon as the going got tough, a plane carrying Prime Minister Stephen Harper is scheduled to land at Mount Hope airport tomorrow.

Perhaps while Harper is trying to schmooze with the little people in this riding, someone can ask him where he’s been while the residents of Caledonia have been under attack.

For the second time in as many debates, Diane Finley decided not to show up today to an all candidates meeting held by the Hamilton Spectator and televised throughout Haldimand Norfolk to her constituents. I must say that as a constituent I’m beginning to question her dedication to this job.

I touched recently on the impression I received from Dr. Hoskins that he’s not someone who would be able to lower himself to the level of the common constituent, and should point out that having spoken with and volunteered for Diane Finley in the last election, I know her to be incapable of it. That’s not coming from an impression or a theory, it’s personal experience with her.

It’s been only 7 days since Gary McHale became a certified Independent candidate in Haldimand Norfolk, but Diane Finley has already made it clear she sees him as a major threat to her ambitions of being re-elected.

After Haldimand Mayor Marie Trainer told the Simcoe Reformer that “McHale’s candidacy guarantees that the rest of the field would have to talk about Haldimand’s ongoing problems related to native land claims”, Finley confronted her in what I as a voter would interpret as an effort to silence one of very few legitimately objective voices.

It’s understandable that Finley was riled by the mayor’s comment however as she likely realized at that point that McHale will force her to answer for her complete failure as an MP to the people of Haldimand Norfolk. Indeed if I were Diane Finley I too would be terrified of Gary McHale as his platform of accountability will make her policy of lying to the people and then hiding from them quite difficult to maintain during an election.

With a Federal election just 5 weeks away, I received what I presume to be the first campaign literature from Diane Finley this week. 2 flyers arrived asking me to reply to 2 questions. Who is on the right track on child care, and who is on the right track on the long gun registry? I’m given the choice of Stephane Dion, Stephen Harper, Jack Layton, or Elizabeth May, but I’m told to reply to a big smiling picture of the Minister of Immigration Diane Finley.

The slogan “Real Action, Real Results” then appears underneath Finley which forces me to wonder aloud, what action has she taken for Haldimand or Norfolk since becoming our federal representative, and what results has she achieved for us?

Haldimand Mayor Marie Trainer had some interesting thoughts for the Brantford Expositor and the Simcoe Reformer when asked this week about Gary McHale running for MP of Haldimand Norfolk in the upcoming federal election. (story)

“With McHale in the race, Trainer says Haldimand’s quest for peace, law and order, stability and justice will feature prominently in the coming campaign. She says McHale will force the other candidates to state their position on the issue of two-tiered justice.”

She’s very clearly implying that without Gary McHale, the other candidates would simply ignore the critical issues facing Haldimand County, and this is coming from a Mayor who has had plenty of dealings with Diane Finley over the past 2 ½ years, so she has some insight into the thought process of the PC candidate that the rest of us do not as nobody has been able to meet or speak with her about Caledonia.

In a press release issued today regarding the intimidation by Fantino that was reported here earlier this week, Toby Barrett revealed that Natives gave him an eviction notice at his home.

The Natives have been telling us for over 2 years that they have no interest in anything but new development, and now we learn that they’ve tried to evict our MPP from his home! How much more arrogant and obscene can you get?

This of course raises serious questions.

August 26, 2008 – Updated August 29, 2008 with comments from Toby Barrett.

When Julian Fantino was caught making threats to Haldimand council in 2007, there was hope that his reign as commissioner would be brought to an end. Mayor Trainer went on TV and radio to help expose the story, and even mainstream media started wondering if Julian should be fired.

Unfortunately Councilor Grice who had been specifically targeted by Fantino for daring to speak freely decided to do what he felt was right for his political career instead of what was right for his constituents by refusing to sign a police service complaint, and the story faded away before Fantino could be held accountable.
