He was the hero in every Western, & I don’t mean those half assed Acid or Spaghetti Westerns, but real horse riding, varmint wrangling, ass kicking men. The kind of rare mix of the best characters portrayed by John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and Gary Cooper rolled into one, but with far more style.

On October 6, 2012 Merlyn lost a valiant 12 year battle with cancer & we lost a friend, colleague, mentor, inspiration, & without question one of the most unique people our society has ever seen.

When a person dies there tends to be a lot of hyperbole about them because nobody wants to remember any flaws that their loved one may have had. In this case however you’ll find none of that because Merlyn Kinrade was a character that no writer in history could have dreamed up.

A socialite at heart, Merlyn loved to entertain, but he was never afraid to put the so called upper class in their place. Be it the mayor, the OPP commissioner, his local council, or a room full of negotiators, Merlyn always had the time and the fortitude to sit down and tell them why they’re wrong and he’s right. I don’t phrase that in the past tense because it remains true that they’re wrong & he’s right.

There are far too many stories of this occurrence to be told in one sitting, but one of my favorites is the night he walked in the back door of a closed meeting of federal negotiators at the Caledonia arena.

Not knowing he wasn’t supposed to be there, he made himself at home and spent hours taking everyone to task for failing his family and his community. They tried to feed him from their lavish tax payer funded buffet but he refused to touch it. They tried to calm him with platitudes but he refused to waver.

On April 21st 2012, Mark Vandermaas attempted to walk down the municipal road known as Surrey Street in Caledonia Ontario; he was assaulted by Mohawk “Warrior” Ken Green. Taking decisive action the OPP commander on the scene, Zupanic had Vandermaas arrested within seconds.

Yes it was Vandermaas, the victim of a crime who was immediately arrested, handcuffed, and placed in a little steel cage in a paddy wagon where he would remain for the next 2 hours. What was Mr. Green charged with you may ask. Nothing. Why? Because in Ontario race based policing is alive and kicking.

Zupanic followed this with directions to his officers. Arrest anyone on the non-Native side of the police line If they move one step. Not the Natives who were free to roam the line making threats and trying to provoke the peaceful residents and activists.

Thank you to the Mayor and council for their despicable and successful attack on the Regional News as today’s edition becomes the last.

Thanks to the many cowards too numerous to mention, that sat back and allowed their neighbors to be attacked, while Julian Fantino and Chris Lewis’ OPP officers looked on.

Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce and the business community that chose the almighty dollar over justice.

Thanks to those that won’t accept the class action money, and in not doing so, rewards McGuinty for bad behavior as well as a total disregard for law and order.

For those who have not yet heard, The Caledonia Eight is a group of people who on December 3, 2011 were arrested on Surrey Street in Caledonia because of the color of their skin. A trait over which they have no control.

The group consisting of Gary McHale, Merlyn Kinrade, Randy Fleming, Bonnie Stephens, Jack VanHalteren, Mark Vandermaas, Doug Fleming, & Jeff Parkinson had their freedom taken from them for walkilng down a public road owned by the Corporation of Haldimand County by order of the McGuinty government who does not own the road.

Last night, (Jan 13 2011) Governor General Award winning author Christie Blatchford was a guest on TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin where she discussed Caledonia and her book Helpless – Caledonia’s Nightmare of Fear and Anarchy and how the law failed all of us.

Viewers were weighing in throughout the 32 minute interview via a web chat with mixed opinions. Some still fail to understand that there is no valid claim to DCE, some think that the words “land claim” possess the magical ability to absolve those who utter them of any responsibility for their actions, and some finally understand the facts that we have been presenting to the public for almost 5 years.

It’s no secret that the McGuinty Liberals have declared war on traditional power generating facilities such as the coal fired plant at Nanticoke, and that they’re hyping going “green” as an investment in our futures, but in their effort to appease environmentalists, are they going to go too far?

Plans to place wind farms and solar farms across the province have been talked about for years, but steps are being taken to make that a reality now and one may be coming closer to home than we think.

McGuinty is hell bent on spending a fortune installing monstrous windmills that will raise our hydro rates astronomically, and he’s got his eye on Haldimand County. Unlike many other municipalities who have passed resolutions calling for a moratorium until these machines are proven safe, Haldimand has set aside a reported 40,000 acres of land for Dalton to use.

There is no shortage of vacant land in Haldimand. The Liberals have ensured this by allowing development to be brought to a halt by Native extremists, but what McGuinty most needs is Crown land.

Renewable resouce?

Some Haldimand residents who live next to such land have learned that they can do nothing to stop wind farms from being built next door because much of it is Crown land. Complaining to the County will do nothing as they have no authority over the land, and trying to express concerns to the McGuinty Liberals has certainly not yielded positive results for residents with far more serious concerns than a windmill.

After 2 ½ years of wrongful prosecution for political gains, the Crown finally stayed the counselling mischief not committed charge against activist Gary McHale today in a Hamilton Court. There are plenty of theories as to why now, but my personal best guess is that it has a lot to do with Gary closing in on criminal charges against senior McGuinty government officials.

With court ordered disclosure in hand, McHale was creeping slowly closer to being able to connect the dots between the inspector who arrested him for a crime that nobody has ever heard of, and the Deputy Minister for the McGuinty government.

A Cayuga Court justice has ordered criminal charges of obstruction of justice against OPP deputy commissioner Chris Lewis, and Superintendent Ron Gentle this morning for their role in having Gary McHale arrested in December 2007.

Although they knew they had no evidence against McHale, he was arrested to prevent a backlash from the criminal occupiers as Clyde Powless was arrested for assault. There was too much evidence of the cowardly attack from behind that Powless committed on McHale, so instructions were given to arrest McHale at the same time as Powless to appease Native extremists.

More info on these charges will be made available very soon both here and at caledoniawakeupcall.com

Caledonia residents Merlyn Kinrade and Doug Flemming are not planning to take the decision to hand over DCE to Six Nations quietly. Mr. Kinrade is going to hold a series of rallies starting with the Anti Racism rally during International anti racism week on March 21st, and Doug Flemming is planning a series of smoke shack rallies beginning April 11th.

Most people do their best to ignore the gaping hole in democracy that is the Douglas Creek Estates and go on with their lives in the hope that the Extremists who have terrorized their town in the past will simply decide not to do it again. It’s a strategy that may sound good to some in theory, but in practice it has simply allowed those who are desperate to make people forget about the dangers of DCE to further their agenda of getting closer to handing it over.

The reality is that DCE remains a sink hole that has drained the province and the County of countless dollars in failed policing, utilities for illegal occupiers, and the dead stop of all development in an area which was once set to explode. Wal-Mart pulling out of Dunville at the sight of some Mohawk Warrior flags is a perfect example of what could have been for Haldimand County.

We’re in a deep recession, and every penny of the taxes paid by everyone reading this combined will never begin to cover the cost of appeasing the DCE thugs. You work hard for your money so that those who choose to illegally occupy land in Ontario don’t have to.

As announced earlier this week, Merlyn Kinrade of CANACE is holding an anti racism rally in Caledonia on March 21st 2010. The plan is quite similar to other events we’ve had in town, and is in protest of the current plan of the McGuinty government to hand DCE to Six Nations. The Liberals are now denying that this is their plan, but we’re all used to their pathological need to lie by now.

Mr. Kinrade sent an invitation to his elected council to attend and speak to the public and media. He wasn’t brimming over with confidence that they would show up, but he wanted to give them a chance to stop sitting on their hands and speak up for their constituents during the lead up to the Municipal election later this year.

UPDATE: it’s been all of a few hours and emails are already coming in from people claiming this is just a rumor. Despite what they would like to think, the facts were verified by multiple sources who were at the meeting this morning.

By Jeff Parkinson

In a disgusting piece of news, Attorney General Chris Bentley met with members of Haldimand Council this morning to inform them that the Douglas Creek Estates will be given to Six Nations, and that Council had best go negotiate with Six Nations now if they want any chance at having a say in what becomes of the DCE.

The meeting took place this morning at a Tim Hortons in Brantford and involved Mayor Trainer, and several council members. The obvious plan being for the province to push Haldimand Council to negotiate a deal with Six Nations so that they can say “it wasn’t us, we’re just doing what the county wanted”. You can be sure the last thing they wanted was for this to be exposed to the public before McGuinty has had a chance to deflect the blame.

UPDATE: March 1st 2010. As most know, the site hosting the tapes was down around the time I originally posted this article. That was perhaps due to a glitch of some kind and the tapes are all once again active for your listening pleasure.

January 26, 2010

by Jeff Parkinson

This is a topic that we’ve discussed before, but a growing number of people are coming to this site by searching for the tapes, and many are taking the time to listen to them for what may be the first time. Also we have a new found audience among the media who are hungry for information regarding Caledonia, and these tapes are certainly worthy of their attention.

During the tumultuous summer of 2006, while under siege from a group of extremists, some clever residents of Caledonia uncovered the code for the radios of the self proclaimed “DCE Security” and began recording. What they captured was Natives talking about shooting police officers, interfering with the pursuit of a vehicle that refused to stop for the OPP, interfering with the routing of an ambulance, interfering with a shots fired investigation on the sixth line road, talking about shooting the driver of a truck who mistakenly turned into the entrance of DCE, and much more.

The tapes were given to Gary McHale who made them available to the media at a time when people like Fantino were proclaiming that all was quiet in Caledonia so long as the “outsiders” stayed away.

After hearing multiple death threats issued, the CBC decided they wanted to do a documentary on the matter. This was pulled just hours before it was to air, and the tapes seemed set to fade into obscurity because for any of us to publish these recordings would open us up to substantial fines from the CRTC according to reliable sources at the time.

In September 2007, someone created a website on which excerpts of the tapes were posted. The site consists purely of DCE tapes content and it appears that the administrator has not updated it in any way since then. Much as I did in 2007, I would like to thank the person responsible for taking the risk to get them in the public domain.

I would strongly encourage anyone who has not yet done so to go and listen to  the tapes for yourself here.

You can be sure that if residents were able to crack the code, the OPP had already done it and was well aware of the threats being made. Rather than issuing a press release informing the public of the serious danger posed by the DCE thugs, the OPP opted to downplay the situation at every turn and tried to convince the public that everything was calm and peaceful.

An in depth description of the content of the tapes is available in my original post, and on the site hosting them.

How would you renovate a $400,000 home that you had just purchased? A new kitchen or bathroom, perhaps some nice shrubbery or maybe a simple welcome mat would suffice? If you’re Dalton McGuinty you tear it to the ground. After all it’s only taxpayer’s money he’s playing with here, and with a running tab of $80 Million that we know of and counting, what’s another half a mil right?

As part of their out of court settlement with the Liberals, Dave Brown & Dana Chatwell signed Chatwell’s childhood home over to McGuinty once they had finished moving into a much nicer neighbourhood than the DCE. This took place on January 14, and by evening the government had moved in and posted signs warning of supposed asbestos.

By morning a demolition crew was hard at work razing the house to the ground. None of the workers were wearing any sort of respiratory protection, and the signs warning of asbestos were nowhere to be found. Funny how truly awful the McGuinty government is at maintaining its own web of lies.

For years we have been saying that lasting change will come one day and one of the elements that would be necessary is for the good people on Six Nations who are fed up with being allegedly represented by a handful of thugs to speak out against the lawlessness and let everyone know that they too have a voice which has been suppressed by the violent criminals leading occupations and terrorizing Caledonia. This week marked a big first step in that direction.

The following exclusive video’s are best viewed full screen at 420p and may take some time to buffer depending on your connection.

As CANACE and Caledonia residents gear up for the final flag raising on Argyle Street in Caledonia, uncertainty about what the OPP will do gives way to a request from the OPP for us to ask permission from the Native occupiers on DCE to hang our flag on public property. Mark Vandermaas wastes no time putting this idea where it belongs and an interesting discussion ensues between Mark and Sgt. Michaud of the OPP.
