Mohawk Warriors occupy High Park in Toronto

In protest of cyclists riding through a section of Toronto’s High Park that they claim was once a cemetery, a group of Mohawk Warriors have set up camp complete with tents and warrior flags. 

They brought shovels and picks which they’re using to carve out ridges they claim were made by mountain bikers, they’ve strung up tarps between the old oak trees for added shelter, and they say they’re not leaving. 

Does Mohawks squatting in a park where they claim there’s a cemetery that nobody has ever heard of sound familiar to anyone else?

CBC feature March 13 1955 ‘A New Future’

While reading an excellent story by Mark Vandermaas about why Conservatives can’t trust the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, I remembered a ‘feature’ video I had seen from CBC some time ago praising the wonderful residential school system and showing happy Native children learning about such things as Valentines Day, and “the mastery of words”. 

Mr. Vandermaas’s story documents the failure of the CBC to present any unbiased reports on the victims of Caledonia and their willingness to instead provide air time to the criminals. At issue specifically is their unwillingness to run a story that they have been working on about the growing dissention in the ranks of the Conservatives as a result of Fantino joining the party.  

Before we have a look at the 1955 residential school video, let’s look at a clip of one of the interviews that CBC conducted with Mr. McHale on the Fantino topic. While this was being filmed in front of Fantino headquarters in Vaughan, Julian was seen sneaking out the back door and driving away.

Fantino is still a loser

While Julian Fantino managed a very narrow victory in the Vaughan by-election on Monday, it’s more than a bit note worthy that the supposed “star candidate” for the CPC won his home town riding by less than 1000 votes with the full weight of top party officials including the Prime Minister behind him. 

Looking back at what was an interesting campaign, Fantino and the Conservative Party of Canada pulled out every trick they had to squeak out a win that was too close to call until after midnight. 

When the rumours began flying that Fantino would be embraced by Stephen Harper, we did everything we could to be absolutely sure that the CPC were aware of Julian’s salty past before they made it official. The announcement was timed to precede the release of Christie Blatchford’s book which makes clear that Fantino not only failed as OPP commissioner, but went out of his way to abuse his power. 

A fully informed Harper nonetheless fast tracked Fantino into the party in a very undemocratic fashion shoving him down the throats of loyal Conservative voters and members of the party alike. This created an instant backlash within the party as high profile long time members began contacting members of CANACE to voice their disgust and help us craft an anti Fantino campaign.

Conservatives Against Fantino had the pleasure of attending the only public all candidates debate in Vaughan last night to hear what Julian Fantino & his opponents had to say to the voters with only 5 days left until the by election in which Fantino hopes to unseat the Liberals. 

Unfortunately for the voters and for all who believe in Democracy, Mr. Fantino blew off the event. Organizers made every effort to accommodate Julian including rescheduling this event to suit his schedule, but he was unwilling to engage his opponents in a public debate.

Months after his reign as OPP commissioner ended, Julian Fantino is still trying to bully innocent victims into silence. The man Stephen Harper is said to have hand picked to run as the Federal Conservative candidate for Vaughan is trying to force the families of 2 disabled men who were shot and killed by police to pay him $17500.

 

The people Fantino wants cash from include 83 year old Evelyn Minty whose disabled son Douglas was shot dead outside her Elmvale home on June 22, 2009 and Ruth Schaeffer whose son Levi suffered from Schizophrenia and was shot through the heart at his private camp site in Northern Ontario by OPP officers on June 24, 2009.

 

The lawyer for the Minty and Schaeffer families, Julian Falconer calls the move to seek costs police intimidation which it certainly appears to be, and stated to the court “because the families have asked for police accountability, they will now be punished.”

 

Harper adopts McGuinty’s lapdog

As a faithful Conservative, it is sometimes necessary to swallow my personal views about an issue so long as the party as a whole is doing the best job they can to represent us. That is not the case with the latest decision by Stephen Harper. 

Touting the tripe that he’s “good for the party” and under the apparent delusion that he’s a “law & order guy”, the Federal Conservatives are running former OPP commissioner Julian Fantino in the riding of Vaughan. This for me as a staunch Conservative constituent and as someone who has seen first hand the havoc that Julian Fantino wreaked on the town of Caledonia is too much to take quietly. 

Natives back down from 403 protest

According to the Hamilton Spectator, red power united – the red supremacy group who planned and announced a blockade of the 403 between Hamilton and Toronto today has backed down and called it off.

They’re claiming it’s because “more radical groups” expressed an intent to get involved, but one has to wonder if this is simply the result of police threatening to do their job and remove any unlawful blockade.

One would think that McGuinty would not want the publicity of a major artery into Toronto being shut down for no reason, so maybe he took the proverbial handcuffs off of the police for one day.

Attacks on Ontario infrastructure are escalating quickly this month, and from the sounds of things it’s going to get much worse before it gets any better. We bowed down quickly to threats of blockades if Natives were not made exempt from the HST that will increase the cost of living for the rest of us by 8% on July 1^st, but giving in to them seems to have fuelled the desire of some to wreak havoc on innocent people.

A group of Natives decided to shut down highway 403 last weekend where it meets the Lincoln Alexander Parkway in Hamilton, so the OPP and Hamilton Police shut down the highway so that this little group of malcontents could “march peacefully” on a major highway. Never mind the impact on countless thousands of people trying to go about their business on the fathers day weekend, some Natives wanted to walk on the freeway, so the cops helped them do it.

Natives to blockade 403 or 400 during new “day of action”

Two “red power” protests are being planned for June 24^th 2010 that will (hopefully) finally test the patience of the Canadian government who talks tough but does nothing to stop Native protests which at times have escalated to terrorism.

According to a wide variety of media sources including Native media, a group calling itself red power united intends to blockade highway 403, or highway 400 next week as well as the Trans Canada Highway because they don’t approve of the G20. This same group disapproved of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and ultimately their “peaceful” protest turned into a group of anarchists destroying property, and attacking police in the downtown core.

The 403 runs from Woodstock, Ont., to Mississauga, Ont., just west of Toronto, and Highway 400 runs north between Toronto and Barrie, Ont. A blockade of either would tie up thousands of people for no reason at all and since it is apparently designed to force a political agenda, would amount to terrorism.

Yesterday, CANACE executive director Gary McHale was a guest on the Michael Coren show on CTS. The appearance was another milestone for us and for Haldimand County as Coren is a national show with a very well respected host.

This brings us one large step closer to informing the general public who in many cases are still clueless about what’s happening in small town Ontario.

Charges withdrawn against Michael Bryant

When Michael Bryant was arrested last year in the death of 33 year old cyclist Darcy Allan Sheppard, it seemed that all efforts were being made to ensure that his status as former attorney general would not fetch him special treatment. He was released without a bail hearing, but aside from that he appeared to face the same treatment that anyone else would expect when their actions result in death.

Bryant was charged with criminal negligence causing death, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death after he apparently hit the gas to shake loose a cyclist who had grabbed his steering wheel. We don’t know why Sheppard grabbed the wheel, and we don’t know why Bryant hit the gas to shake him loose, but we do know that a man is dead, and nobody is being held accountable.

A special prosecutor from BC was appointed to handle the case, and by all appearances Bryant seemed destined to face the justice system on an even keel.

Tamils give Toronto a small taste of Caledonia

In an event eerily similar to Caledonia thus far, a relatively small group of Tamil “protestors” marched onto the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto this evening shutting down a major artery of the city and disrupting the lives of thousands of innocent bystanders who happened to be on the wrong highway at the wrong time.

Why did they do it? To further their political agenda. They want Canada to interfere in the affairs of a sovereign nation, and as this site will not become a vessel for the agenda of this or any other extremist group, I’m not going to elaborate on their demands.

How did they do it? They put women and children in front to keep the cops at bay and marched onto The Gardiner at Spadina waving red flags and talking about genocide. This is all very familiar to those involved in the Caledonia crisis.

Natives claim ownership of Toronto

Uphold Canada’s laws

The aboriginal day of action has come and gone in Canada and the country is largely better for it. Across the land, native communities expressed their hopes and fears in actions that were, with a few notable exceptions, entirely lawful. Good for them.

But in eastern Ontario, the action taken was not legal but, instead, a violation of the law of the land and the rights of the general public. A small group of native protesters blockaded Highway 401 as well as Highway 2 and the main Canadian National Railway line between Montreal and Toronto. The leader of the natives, Shawn Brant, warned that they were armed with guns and ready to respond violently if provoked. This action, in marked contrast to the other demonstrations, was totally unacceptable. If not checked, it will threaten the civil peace and order of the nation.

Mohawk protester says supporters will be armed to battle Police for day of protest

DESERONTO, Ont. (CP) – Mohawk protester Shawn Brant says his supporters will be armed to defend themselves if police try to keep them from blocking Highway 401 and the CN rail line near Deseronto, in eastern Ontario. Both are targets for Friday’s aboriginal day of action, along with Highway 2.

Brant says commuters between Toronto and Montreal can expect major delays in both directions on the 401 over the 24 hours starting at midnight or earlier.

Provincial police have already gathered in the nearby city of Napanee.

Brant says the time has passed for marches to educate Canadians about native poverty and suicide.

He says militant Mohawks in his area and in other parts of the country will take a stronger stand to demand change now.
